特別講演者の紹介と講演内容：
Teaching Statistics Using Sports

The author has developed several courses that describe statistical thinking within the context of sports. An introductory statistics course is described that is entirely taught from a baseball perspective. Topics in data analysis, including methods for one batch, comparison of batches, and relationships, are communicated using current and historical baseball data sets. Probability is introduced by describing and playing tabletop baseball games. Inference is taught by first making the distinction between a player's "ability" and his "performance", and then describing how one can learn about a player's ability based on his season performance. A second seminar class is described that discusses statistical thinking for a variety of sports.

"Curve Ball: Baseball, Statistics, and the Role of Chance in the Game","Statistical Thinking in Sports", "Anthology of Statistics in Sports" などの著作や編著を持ち，数年前にテレビ東京のスポーツ番組が初めて Sabermetrics (the statistical analysis of baseball records) 特集した時に出演．統計教育へのスポーツデータ（特に野球のデータ）活用に積極的でその具体的内容について講演．
古内義明（スポーツジャーナリスト・ＭＬＢアナリスト）
メジャーリーグのデータ活用の現状をオークランド・アスレチックスのビリーン・ビーンＧＭやメジャーリーガーの取材事例をもとに具体的に レポートする．
古内氏は，スポーツジャーナリストとして活躍で，「松坂大輔に120億円の価値はあったのか」「メジャーリーグのWBC世界戦略?六〇〇〇億円ビジネスのからくり」 などの著作があり，MLBに詳しい．大学時代は野球部に所属し，選手経験もある．今回の講演では，MLBでのデータ活用事例を，選手での立場空の視点を取材を通した報告を行う．また，経営的側面での，データ活用事例についても触れる．
